This is our annual drive to make and collect placemats to go out to seniors and shut-ins served by the Meals on Wheels program. The placemats we collect are delivered by MOW Drivers with clients' Holiday Meal in December. Our goal is to collect 500, so we need everyone's help!
This year, we're doing things just a little different, holding our placemat sewing days in our own classroom! We hope to offer one date in August, two dates each in September and October, and one date in November. Also this year, we will teach a different pattern or technique on each date. The class is free to all who register in advance and donate two or more placemats to our Meals on Wheels cause. Why not come and learn a new technique that you can later use to make gifts of your own? STAY TUNED FOR DATES!
We provide fabrics (fabrics donated by anyone wishing to help, or wanting just to clean up their stash!) Bringing your own fabric is fine as well. We also provide flannel as a replacement for batting, because we are asked to make the Meals on Wheels placemats thin. Bring a dish to pass if you want to participate in a pot luck lunch, or simply bring your own lunch.
Other ways to help: Get together with friends to make placemats; enlist the help of your guild; Those that can't sew can help with cutting and pressing.
We will be accepting donated placemats until early December.

Monthly Stitch Clubs
Fabric of the Day
|If you enjoy the art of hand embroidery, or want to learn to embroider by hand, this group is for you! Each month, we come together to learn and practice new stitches and work on a small project, designed especially for this group. Finish them as small individual projects, or combine them into one larger piece. $5 fee includes pattern and background fabric!
Our Wool Stitch Club also meets monthly, working on a different 6 inch block each month. The $10 fee includes Woolies Flannel background and a kit of the wool. Choose light background and traditional colored wool, or dark background with bright colored wool.
Sign up now, on our classes page!
Embroidery Stitch club is offered on two different days each month, as is Wool Stitch Club! Meadowbrook Wool Block of the Month meets once monthly.
|Each day, we feature a different fabric as our "Fabric of the Day" and offer it at a super special one-day-only price of just $5 per yard! First come, first served, and when it's gone it's gone! Minimum cut is one yard. (It's a fantastic chance to purchase a quilt back!) Our Fabric of the Day will be posted each morning on our Facebook page, so make sure to "Like" us on Facebook!|
