About Us
InterQuilten opened in March, 2009, in the little town of Interlochen, Michigan. We quickly outgrew our first location and moved to larger quarters before our first anniversary! While our new location was bigger, and oh so charming, it was not to be our forever home. So in the Spring of 2019, we moved into our current location, in Traverse City!
InterQuilten is all about providing friendly, knowledgeable service to our quilting and sewing community. Inside our shop, you will find lots of color, creative ideas, and inspiration! We're proud to say that our wonderful selection of cotton prints, batiks, and hand dyed wool is unique, and we guarantee you'll see something here you've not seen at another quilt shop! Plus, we have a fabulous group of teachers and a busy class schedule to help you learn any number of techniques, whether you are a beginner or experienced quilter.
We make it our mission to provide every customer with:
I was born & raised in the Grand Traverse region of Northern Michigan. The women in my family, from my Mom, to my Grandmother and Great Grandmother, have always been creative and entrepreneurial by nature, so I guess that’s where I get it! As a child, I loved to draw, bead, paint rocks, create macramé and paper flowers....
I was in my twenties when I officially caught the sewing bug, suddenly yearning to learn the skill and becoming hopelessly hooked on fabric. A decade later, I started quilting, but still I had no idea what it would eventually lead to!
As with us all, I got wrapped up in the day to day activities of family and career. Yet as I entered my forties, all my pent-up creativity was screaming to be let out! When I finally decided to change my life and chase my passion, I opened InterQuilten...where I enjoy being surrounded by colorful fabric and creative people every day!
