Use the Cotton Daisies pattern to piece your project before coming to class. The Cotton Daisies pattern is written for 3 different sized projects: a 45" x 45" wall hanging, a 45" x 63" lap quilt, or a queen size quilt, but you could even do a table runner or a table topper with fewer blocks. In class, you will learn how to quilt your pieced project. When you come to class, your Cotton Daisies project must be pieced and layered, ready to quilt.
The prerequisite for this class is that you must have experience quilting with rulers.
(If you need a refresher, or you have not done rulerwork quilting before, please sign up for our Beginning Rulerwork class before taking this advanced class.)
Supply List:
Good Measure Every Angle ruler (straight)
Good Measure Every Circle Set of rulers (specifically a 3" circle and a 5" circle)
Thread for quilting & a full Bobbin to match backing, same weight thread to match your upper thread. (I use Aurifil 50 wt - cotton).
Seam Ripper
Scissors/Snips
80/12 OR 90/14 Topstitch needles
Marking Tool (I like a blue, wash-away pen.)
Quilting Gloves
Free Motion Glider
Students will bring their own machine with a ruler foot plus your machine manual for this class, and must be very familiar with using that machine beforehand. You must be able to adjust thread tension, set up for free motion quilting. Maybe consider bringing a sample quilt sandwich to make sure everything is working properly. You will also need a table top extension table or maybe boxes that are the same height as your machine so you have a flat, stable surface to work on.
Students need to be ready to go at the time the class begins. Have your machine threaded, new needle, feed dogs down/ready for free motion, and your layered project ready.
