Tool School: 60 Degree Rulers

Ok, so you saw a wonderful new gadget and bought it.  But if you don't know how to use it, what good is it?  Here's the solution:
Each month in Tool School, we offer a hands-on lesson to help you learn how to use and get the most out of a tool that's sitting unused in your sewing room. CALL OR EMAIL US TO NOMINATE A TOOL FOR A FUTURE TOOL SCHOOL!

Learn many different things that a 60 Degree Triangle ruler can do for you! There are so many uses for this ruler, and some don't even require a pattern.


Supply List

60 Degree Triangle Ruler 




 Cut fabrics before you come to class.

2 or 3 assorted light or medium-light prints
2 or 3 assorted medium prints
2 or 3 assorted dark or medium-dark prints


1/4 yard or
1 FQ of each  


For each, cut 2 or 3 long strips, all the same size.
Minimum 2-1/2" x WOF/Width of FQ 
Maximum 4" x WOF/Width of FQ 

A Border stripe print 


  1-1/2 yards


Do not cut the border print.

Sewing machine with 1/4" foot and your manual;
Rotary cutter and mat;
Long quilting ruler at least 24" long;
Thread and a full bobbin;
Scissors, pins, seam ripper.
