English Paper Piecing and Embroidery Runner
Join Gail for this wonderful project incorporating hand sewing - English paper piecing and hand embroidery!
In the first class we will be cutting hexagon and background fabrics; covering hexagon form and stitching to background fabric; tracing embroidery patterns onto the background fabric.
We will cover different methods to prepare the paper piecing form, attaching together and attaching to background and diswcuss the different options for embroidery threads and stitches and why to use a lightweight interfacing.
The second class will be all about the embroidery and finishing techniques. If you prefer to embroider with a hoop, bring one to class
Supply list:
Book: Tabletop Stitchery by Gail Pan
3/8 yard of light colored, tone on tone fabric for background
¼ yard of fabric to be used for binding and one hexagon
4 pieces for fabric, 6” x 10” each, for each of the remaining hexagons
½ yard of fabric for backing
15” x 32” piece of batting
Brown Pigma Micron pen, fine point
7/8 yard of lightweight interfacing, 18 to 20 inches wide (SF101), for stabilizing embroidery
5 Precut hexagons which are 2.5 or 2.25 inches.
Quilters glue stick
8 colors of: 12 weight cotton thread (i.e. Sulky Petites) OR 12 weight Perle Cotton OR 6 strand embroidery floss in colors that coordinate with your fabrics.
A light box, if you have one. But we will also have 1 or 2 available in the classroom .
